Bryant hands MacLeod first loss at state tourney

BRYANT — Defensive miscues, along with 12 walks and hit-by-pitches allowed by four MacLeod pitchers, allowed the Bryant Junior Black Sox to post big rallies in the fifth and seventh innings during a 14-0 triumph Monday night in the Arkansas Junior American Legion State Tournament.

Bryant led only 4-0 after four innings, but the tournament co-hosts plated three runs in the fifth and tacked on seven during the top of the seventh.

Bryant advanced to Tuesday night’s championship game, while MacLeod (12-10) was slated to face Fort Smith on Tuesday in the loser’s bracket final at Benton. The winner of that game would need to defeat Bryant twice to win the championship of the double elimination bracket…
