ARDOT crews prepare for triple-digit heat index next week

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Arkansas road crews are preparing for another week of feels-like temperatures in the triple digits, with the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) monitoring both road conditions and worker safety.

Concrete expands in heat and contracts in cold. ARDOT said when either happens too rapidly, it can risk buckling, or cracking open.
