Sherwood defends use of Flock cameras from social media misinformation

SHERWOOD, Ark. — Sherwood city leaders say that the Flock cameras are not new to the city’s investigative tool belt and the license plate readers aren’t used to watch drivers coming in and out of the city.

City leaders say that the license plate cameras known as Flock Cams are not new to the city. The cameras have been up and operational for years, and they’re already a line item in the city’s budget. Officials also addressed what they called misinformation circulating online

“There has been a lot of scare tactics, misinformation that continues to be propagated out on social media, and so I think that was part of the reason that this was important this evening, so that people could see and understand the flock cameras, the usefulness, why it is so important to for our police department to have that tool in order to be able to solve and investigate crimes,” Heye-Townsell said…
