LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- As Arkansas continues to endure a stretch of triple-digit temperatures, firefighters are taking extra precautions to protect themselves while responding to emergencies.
The extreme heat comes after several busy days for first responders, including a hotel fire in Bryant, a house fire in Conway and numerous other emergency calls across central Arkansas.
Captain Jason Weaver with the Little Rock Fire Department said keeping firefighters safe begins before they ever leave the station.
