While pet owners may like to think they know what is going on in their dogs’ heads, an animal’s brain works much differently than a human’s. However, the forthcoming Koning Canine Academy in Little Rock and its roster of highly skilled dog trainers will dive deep into dogs’ psyches, training them well and making their owners’ lives happier and easier.
“Dogs don’t come with an instruction manual,” the Heathman family of Little Rock, which owns the facility, said in a statement. “They communicate with us every day, but most of us were never taught how to understand what they’re trying to tell us.”
Koning Academy was ultimately founded because of the Heathmans’ own love and training experiences with their pets. The family’s two Belgian Malinois, named Koning and Miss Godzilla, have truly changed their lives.
“They introduced me to a whole new way of understanding dogs and taught me that the strongest relationships are built through communication, trust and learning together,” one family member said. “That experience became the inspiration behind Koning Canine Academy because I wanted to create a place where every family has the opportunity to build the same kind of partnership with their beloved companion.”
To make sure the dogs are getting top-notch training at Koning, the family found just the man for the job — Michael Bishop. Bishop is a dog trainer, educator and author of a book on the subject based around his training program, Egnition.
“We were all in the working dog community,” Bishop said of meeting the Heathman family. “Through conversations, one thing led to another.”…
