EL DORADO, Ark. (KTVE/KARD) — As students across Arkansas settle into a new school year, schools are continuing to enforce the state’s “No Cell to the Bell” policy, a law aimed at reducing distractions and improving classroom engagement. The policy allows students to bring their cell phones and other electronic devices to school, but once the first bell rings, those devices must be powered off and stored inside a backpack, completely out of sight until the final bell of the day.
At El Dorado High School, administrators say the policy has already made a noticeable difference. School leaders say limiting access to cell phones during the school day has helped students stay more focused during class, allowing teachers to spend more time teaching and less time redirecting attention away from electronic devices.
