ARKANSAS (KTAL/KMSS) — With extreme heat affecting the country, Entergy Arkansas is taking steps to protect its customers.
The company stated in a press release that disconnections are suspended through August 21 and will resume on August 24.

Entergy provided tips to stay safe in the heat, including:
- Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated
- Take regular breaks in a cool or shaded area
- Schedule strenuous outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day when possible
- Pay attention to signs of heat exhaustion, including extreme weakness, fatigue, nausea, headache, and heavy sweating
- Heat stroke can be life-threatening. If someone experiences confusion, loss of consciousness, seizures, or hot, dry skin, move them to a cool area and seek immediate medical assistance
Along with tips to stay safe, Entergy also provided ways for customers to maximize the effectiveness of their air conditioning:
- Set thermostats to the highest temperature that’s comfortable
- Change or clean air-conditioning filters regularly
- Use ceiling or portable fans to circulate cool air, and turn fans off when rooms are unoccupied
- Close blinds, shades and curtains during the hottest parts of the day
- Seal gaps around doors, windows and ductwork to keep cool air inside
