Aircraft relocate to Little Rock ahead of hurricane

LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE — Little Rock Air Force Base received aircraft from Hurlburt Field and Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in support of precautionary evacuation operations ahead of Hurricane Isaias.

Col. Mark Hamilton, 1st Special Operations Wing commander, authorized the evacuation of base residents and aircraft from Hurlburt and Elgin at 5 p.m. on October 7, to safeguard personnel, families, and aircraft from potential storm impacts.

As part of the evacuation effort, aircraft such as AC-130J Ghostrider and MC-130J Commando II have arrived at Little Rock AFB. The relocation of these aircraft enables the 1st SOW to mitigate the risk posed by the storm while maintaining its ability to project airpower anytime, anyplace…
