FIRST ALERT: rain, wind & snowflakes possible Monday; quieter through mid-week

MONDAY: The last portion of this system will pivot across the Mid-South through the course of the day. Expect clouds to hang on tough through the day with scattered to numerous showers moving across the area. Highs will tumble from near 50 early, through the 40s by the afternoon amid a cold northerly wind. After sunset, enough cold air aloft and lingering moisture could kick up a period of rain and snow showers – generally near and north of I-40. With temperatures above freezing, accumulations aren’t likely; but if it comes down quick enough, a quick dusting can’t be ruled out – mainly in NW Tennessee and NE Arkansas. Rain and snow potential ends by around midnight; expect gradual clearing skies with lows near freezing by early Tuesday.
