Local shop owners rebuild with new marketplace at same location after Painted Tree shutdown

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – After many vendors across the country were left with no home for their shop when the Painted Tree closed all its locations just a few weeks ago, former Painted Tree general manager in Little Rock, Jessica Meece, decided to do something to help all those small businesses.

Meece secured the lease to the building, got a business license, and started to open her new business, Small Shoppes Marketplace.

“It should be a community of small shops where they can collaborate. They can build on each other’s ideas. They can help each other out. You know, we, we were very limited in what we were able to do. And now we’ll have the freedom to be more creative,” Meece said.

When all the Painted Tree locations were closing, Meece had to let go of her employees and tell the vendors to move out, but with her new business that would work the same way as a Painted Tree would, Meece explained how this would impact everyone…
