Deputies share new details on deadly I-25 crash north of Castle Rock

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is sharing new details on a deadly crash that shut down I-25 for hours Friday north of Castle Rock, adding that one driver was reversing on the shoulder at the time that the crash occurred.

Troopers responded to northbound I-25 near Happy Canyon Road around just after 1:30 p.m. Friday for the crash. Northbound lanes opened around 5:45 p.m.

According to CSP, a Chevrolet Equinox was reversing on the right northbound shoulder while an Audi Q5 and a Toyota Highlander were travelling in the right lane. At that time, deputies said the Equinox drifted into the right through lane while backing up…
