Long Beach Food Trucks Get New City Permit Rules and a Park Parking Pilot

Starting next month, food trucks will pull into designated spots at neighborhood parks across Long Beach—a visible shift that signals just how much the city’s new mobile food rules are reshaping daily life for residents and operators alike.

The City Council voted 7–0 on May 5 to adopt a comprehensive Mobile Food Facility ordinance, and the new rules took effect June 8, replacing a patchwork of outdated regulations with a single, streamlined section of the Long Beach Municipal Code.

According to the city, the ordinance is intended to “create more opportunities for small businesses” and “improve public health and safety.”
