A 66-year-old man who fell to his death on the Mt. Wilson Trail in Sierra Madre over the weekend has been identified.
On May 2, search and rescue crews were called to the area around 2 p.m. after reports that a person had fallen into a ravine directly below the fixed rope section of the trail, according to a news release from the Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team.
Crews were assisted by medics with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, who were inserted at the hiker’s location, approximately 30 feet below the trail, in an effort to provide medical care.
“Unfortunately, the hiker did not survive the fall,” officials said in the release.
