LOS ANGELES — Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday announced $111 million in Proposition 1 funding for six supportive housing developments across California, including projects in Los Angeles County aimed at helping veterans, youth and people experiencing homelessness with behavioral health challenges.
The funding, awarded through the state’s Homekey+ program, will create 307 permanent supportive housing units statewide for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and living with behavioral health conditions, according to the governor’s office.
Among the Los Angeles County projects, the city of Cudahy will receive nearly $8 million to help complete Amanda Villas, a 140-unit affordable housing development. The project will reserve 18 units for people facing behavioral health challenges and chronic homelessness.
