A man is in custody after a dangerous, high-speed chase through Southern California late Wednesday afternoon.
The chase was initiated by deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department around 5:15 p.m., and was taken over by CHP after deputies backed off due to the extreme speeds the driver was hitting.
The suspect, behind what appeared to be a KIA that’s allegedly been reported stolen, was seen on the 605 and 10 freeways hitting speeds of 100 miles per hour, crossing all lanes in heavy traffic with at least four patrol units in chase.
At one point, a tire came off the rear-passenger wheel of the vehicle, prompting the suspect to slow down but not surrender more than a half hour into the pursuit…
