13 arrested in narcotics enforcement operation at MacArthur Park, LAPD says

More than a dozen people were arrested as law enforcement officers descended on Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park again Thursday afternoon, about a month after arrests in the same area in connection with a large-scale narcotics trafficking investigation.

Thursday’s anti-drug enforcement operation, involving the Los Angeles Police Department and agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, began around 3 p.m. It was not part of immigration enforcement operations that ramped up in June 2025 in Los Angeles and other parts of Southern California.

In less than an hour, 13 arrests and six citations were made, according to LAPD Capt. Ben Fernandes, who spoke during an afternoon news conference. He said the arrests were for drinking in public, being under the influence of narcotics and having bulky items inside the park, while the citations were for smoking in public and other quality of life issues…
