A growing number of law enforcement agencies across Southern California are on high alert about possible “takeovers” or illegal gatherings after an Orange County coastal city became a target during the Fourth of July weekend.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department sent a warning message Friday about a potential gathering in Lakewood while the Los Angeles Police Department pledged zero tolerance for illegal activities at Dockweiler State Beach.
The Sheriff’s Department said someone or a group is “promoting” a weekend event via social media without the city’s authorization, adding it will “not tolerate criminal activity disguised as a celebration.”…
