Couple celebrates 25th wedding anniversary with second Route 66 trip

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Twenty-five years after driving the length of Route 66 in a 1959 Cadillac convertible on their honeymoon, Cherokee Nation citizen Ed Fogle and his wife Jackie repeated the trek in a car as old as the highway itself.

The Fogles, residents of Claremore, completed the roughly 2,400-mile drive from Chicago to Santa Monica, California, in a 1926 Hupmobile, timing the trip to the centennial of Route 66 and their 25th wedding anniversary.

“We’ve been planning this for a long time,” Ed said.

The two grew up along the highway — Ed in Tulsa and Miami, Oklahoma, and Jackie in Springfield, Missouri – and often traveled it years before it became a cultural phenomenon of American nostalgia…
