Multiple illegal street takeovers turned destructive across the Los Angeles area early Saturday, with a car erupting in flames at one intersection and an AutoZone reportedly ransacked at another.
The incidents happened about 2-and-a-half hours apart in East Los Angeles and the Gramercy Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to officials and information gathered by stringer service KEY News. Authorities have not indicated that the two takeovers were connected.
The first incident was reported around 2:20 a.m. near Olympic and Atlantic boulevards in East L.A., where Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported break-in.
