Violent Koreatown crash leaves woman dead, DUI suspect arrested

A woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a violent crash that left a woman in her 30s dead and caused extensive damage in Los Angeles’ Koreatown neighborhood early Friday morning.

Police responded to reports of a vehicle crashing into a fire hydrant shortly after 12:30 a.m. near West 8th Street and South Ardmore Avenue.

Video from Citizen.com showed multiple damaged vehicles, including a Mercedes-Benz SUV that appeared to strike a utility meter and an electrical box before coming to rest on the sidewalk. Water shot dozens of feet into the air after a fire hydrant was sheared off in the crash.

Investigators said one vehicle was traveling southbound on Ardmore Avenue and another was traveling westbound on 8th Street when the two collided and careened into at least one parked car…
