A “large altercation” Wednesday morning at Downey Park, adjacent to Downey High School, has led Modesto police officers to investigate the incident, the Modesto City Schools district reports.
“During the incident, students in the area reported hearing a loud bang,” Downey Principal Ed Taylor said in a letter emailed to families. “The cause of that sound has not been confirmed.”
The incident was before the start of the school day, and Modesto City Schools confirmed that all students and staff are safe. The Modesto Bee is awaiting word from the Police Department regarding the nature of the altercation, and whether anyone was detained or arrested…
