BRENTWOOD – Marilyn Monroe’s former home cannot be demolished after a federal judge dismissed the lawsuit its owners brought to overturn Los Angeles’ landmark designation.
U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson ruled last week that Roy Bank and Brinah Milstein failed to state a viable taking claim against the city and Mayor Karen Bass. The couple, who live at the Brentwood property, alleged Los Angeles unfairly designated it a Historic-Cultural Monument “without any public purpose or just compensation,” blocking their demolition plans.
Bank and Milstein bought the property in 2023 for more than $8 million, according to the lawsuit, with “the clear intent of demolishing the dilapidated structures on the property.” They filed the case in January in downtown Los Angeles…
