Mystery Woman Found Dead on California Beach Is Identified as Man’s Girlfriend Who He Reported Missing

Jennifer Hanie’s body was found on the sand just hours after her boyfriend had reported her missing on the beach

Police over the weekend found a body on a California beach and identified the victim as a woman who had been reported missing by her boyfriend.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department said in a news release posted to Facebook that the body was discovered on Saturday morning on the sand of Manhattan Beach, just south of Los Angeles.

The woman was identified as Jennifer Hanie, 31, according to local news outlet KABC-TV . A day before her body was discovered, Hanie’s boyfriend reported her missing.

At around 6:30 Friday morning, the boyfriend told police “he last saw his girlfriend near the water line” of the beach, according to the police news release.

Officers opened an investigation, and lifeguards and the Coast Guard began conducting a missing person’s search on the beach.

Lifeguards discovered the body around 10 a.m. Saturday. An investigation is ongoing.
