Suspected DUI Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Parked Van at Gas Station in Newhall

SANTA CLARITA, Calif., May 6 (KNN) — A driver suspected of driving under the influence was arrested after slamming into a van parked at a gas station in the Newhall neighborhood of Santa Clarita Sunday evening, according to authorities.

Los Angeles County Fire Department and Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision inside a gas station parking lot around 7:45 p.m. at Newhall Avenue and Sierra Highway. Arriving first responders located both drivers who declined medical treatment.

The driver of a blue Toyota Camry jumped the curb, took out a stop sign and a post, struck a parked white van and almost crashed into a propane tank.

The driver of the white van mentioned off-camera that he had stopped to get propane at the gas station when his plans had changed. He was heading to a job site in Laguna Niguel. His van was towed from the location due to broken radiator.

As for the driver of the Toyota Camry, he was placed under arrest for DUI after taking a breathalyzer test at the scene. LASD Watch Deputy Whitaker confirmed the arrest early Monday morning.
