Southern California is set for a mixed weather pattern in the coming days, according to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles. Dry and mild conditions will continue through Friday, but gusty northerly winds are expected tonight across southern Santa Barbara County and the Interstate 5 corridor. Peak wind gusts could reach up to 40 mph, although no advisories are currently planned. Temperatures will remain 5 to 10 degrees below normal, with patchy frost possible in interior valleys early Friday.
On Saturday, a weak storm system will move through California, bringing cooler temperatures and a slight chance of light showers. However, the system’s eastward track has reduced rain probabilities. Areas north of Point Conception and the Transverse Ranges have a 60-70% chance of light rainfall, with accumulations generally under a tenth of an inch. South of these areas, measurable rain is unlikely.
Gusty northerly winds will pick up again Saturday night, affecting the mountains and southern Santa Barbara County, with gusts potentially reaching 40-50 mph and some spillover into valley areas at 25-30 mph. Sunday will bring drier and warmer conditions, with plenty of sunshine returning to the region.
