“Avoid Crossfire”: LAPD Swarm Vehicle on San Vicente

LAPD was on WeHo’s doorstep late Sunday morning – San Vicente and Melrose – when police activity shut down traffic in both directions as they deployed multiple units, an air unit supervisor, and tactical coordination around a suspected stolen car.

Scanner traffic captured around 11:30 a.m. showed officers requesting backup before the stop was complete. Cops were directed to approach the car from different directions. They were warned to avoid crossfire — code that typically signals officers have reason to believe the situation may involve a weapon.

The car, a black Dodge Durango, a large, full-size SUV, was stopped on San Vicente, between Melrose and Beverly, near Dorrington. The driver got out. Officers took them into custody on the street.

West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputies were on scene helping manage traffic. Northbound San Vicente was shut down during the incident. Westbound traffic at San Vicente and Beverly Drive was also blocked. Both roads reopened once the suspect was in custody…
