Officials searching for assault convict who walked away from L.A. County camp

Officials are searching for an incarcerated man who walked away Saturday morning from a conservation camp in Los Angeles County, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

The man, identified as 41-year-old Francisco Cervantes, was discovered missing around 8 a.m. from Fenner Canyon Conservation Camp in Valyermo, the CDCR said.

Cervantes is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 194 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing an orange shirt, orange pants and black boots, though officials said he may also be wearing gray clothing and white tennis shoes.

According to CDCR, Cervantes was received from San Bernardino County on May 21, 2024, and is serving a five-year, eight-month sentence for assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury…
