VENICE – The family of Richard Allen Pinard, a 92-year-old Army veteran and beloved Venice Beach presence, is asking the community for help covering funeral expenses after he was fatally struck by a vehicle while riding his e-scooter near the Venice boardwalk.
Pinard’s daughter, Carrie Rose, wrote in a GoFundMe that her father did not have life insurance and that she is planning his funeral “with limited funds.” The fundraiser had raised $1,600 of a $6,000 goal, with 11 donations, according to the page.
The crash happened on Easter morning near Washington Boulevard and Sanborn Avenue, by the Venice Beach boardwalk, according to the GoFundMe. Rose wrote that Pinard was riding his scooter in the bike lane when he was hit by a car. He died four days later…
