Local non-profit leaders indicted on federal fraud charges

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A federal grand jury has indicted two Louisville-area women and two business entities, accusing them of running a multi-year scheme to defraud Kentucky Medicaid.

According to an indictment filed June 17 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, Angela Renfro and Briana Gosnell, along with KLF Company, LLC and Freedom Center, LLC, are charged with conspiracy to commit health care fraud. The indictment says KLF Company LLC was registered in 2019 by I.B. (Renfro later changed herself to the registered agent in 2022), and Freedom Center, LLC was registered with Briana Gosnell as registered agent and Angela Renfro as organizer.

Prosecutors allege the conspiracy ran from March 30, 2020, through Jan. 9, 2024, and involved billing Kentucky Medicaid for services that were fraudulent, unauthorized, and, in many instances, not rendered…
