If your loved one uses a wheelchair or has mobility challenges, they can still get some exercise at these local places that are equipped for accessibility.
- The specialized saltwater therapy pools like the one at Home of the Innocents Aquatic Therapy Center in Louisville is heated to 92 degrees for maximum therapeutic benefit. It’s also equipped with an aquatic wheelchair, a stretcher lift, a zero-depth entry ramp, and an exercise bench, making it fully accessible for individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges. The pool is open at a cost of $12.50 an hour, and reservations are required.
- The Community Fitness and Wellness gym at UofL Health – Frazier Rehabilitation Institute is a fully accessible fitness gym that has specialized equipment for wheelchair users. It functions with memberships like most typical gyms.
