Jury convicts man in deadly shooting at Louisville Speedy Mart

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Jefferson County jury delivered a guilty verdict on Wednesday in a gas station shooting case.

According to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Gage Leviathan Lewis was found guilty of murder in a Louisville courtroom on Aug. 5.

Louisville Metro Police previously released that on May 18, 2024, Lewis shot two people at the Speedy Mart on Taylor Boulevard. Dion Smith Jr. was taken to University Hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced deceased.

“No one should fear going shopping and facing gun violence. Our city must pause and rethink our actions before a tragedy occurs and lives are lost. We need a safer community for everyone,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina D. Whethers said. “We will keep aggressively fighting these cases, just as we promised the public.”…
