The bottle of bourbon was worth upwards of $3,000
In the midst of four straight losses, Louisville men’s basketball fans finally had something to cheer about on Tuesday night, when a fan sunk a 94-foot putt during halftime.
According to the broadcast, the fan won a bottle of 15-year-old Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon, which sells for anywhere between $2,000 and $3,100, depending on the year, according to The Rare Whiskey Shop .
This bottle came with “other assorted prizes” that were not specified.
After the fan made the putt, he took off sprinting down the court, jumping around and throwing his hat as he celebrated.
This was the highlight of the night for Cardinals fans, as Louisville went on to lose 83-69 to Duke in an ACC battle. The Cardinals dropped to 6-13 (1-7 in the ACC) on the season and have struggled to find a rhythm since head coach Kenny Payne took over last season, when they went 4-28 (2-18).
Louisville’s schedule does not get much easier from here on out, as they continue conference play in the ACC, where only two other teams, Notre Dame and Georgia Tech, have losing overall records. Up next for the Cardinals is a home matchup with Virginia (13-5, 4-3) at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
