Sycamores split squad shines at Drake Relays, Clark Wood Invitational

The Indiana State track and field team turned in a strong weekend across two meets, splitting its squad between the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky, beginning last Thursday.

Competing against elite fields at the Drake Relays, the Sycamores delivered record-level performances highlighted by junior Rachel Mehringer. The standout hurdler tied her own Indiana State program and Missouri Valley Conference record in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 13.03 seconds. Mehringer’s performance continues a remarkable outdoor season and reinforces her position among the top hurdlers in the nation.

Mehringer also played a key role in another historic moment for the Sycamores. Teaming with freshman Aubrey Runyon, sophomore Ellie Irwin, and sophomore Sophie Hale, the quartet set a new program record in the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 55.59 seconds.
