As Derby Week evolves, local concern grows

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Derby draws visitors from around the world.

But for lifelong Louisvillians like Jordan Spencer, Derby Week has changed over the years, with many believing locals have been priced out.

“Back in the day, it did cater to more of the locals. The prices weren’t so high, and it was affordable,” Spencer said. “Now I feel like things have gotten a bit pricey. From actual Derby, Oaks and Opening Day and things like that. But now it has skyrocketed tremendously.”…
