Lubbock man indicted for stabbing and breaking into victim’s home

LUBBOCK, Texas — Andrew Ruiz, 27, was recently indicted in June 2026 for charges of Burglary of a Habitation with intent to commit another felony after an altercation led to a stabbing on Sunday, May 10.

EverythingLubbock.com previously reported Lubbock Police Department officers received a call for a disturbance in the 8200 block of Elkridge Avenue. Once they arrived at the location, they met with the victim who told police that he, Ruiz and another individual were drinking together at the home. Eventually, Ruiz began harassing the other individual which caused the victim to engage in an altercation with him.

Court documents stated that Ruiz later pulled out a large, black knife and chased the two into the home. The victim advised that both people were able to make it into the home and lock the door, but Ruiz started to beat on it and then broke a nearby window to attempt to gain access to the home. Ruiz allegedly began stabbing the victim through the broken window, which led to Ruiz being stabbed with a box cutter from inside the home. The victim told officers they were stabbed four times and were unsure how many times they stabbed Ruiz…
