Family reacts to plea deal sentencing in Traci Boston murder case

LUBBOCK, Texas — Nearly six years after the death of Traci Boston, her family is speaking out following the sentencing of Corey Webster, the man convicted of her killing.

Webster was sentenced to 35 years in prison through a plea agreement. Because he has already spent about five years in custody, he will receive credit for time served. Under Texas law, he could become eligible for parole after serving half of his sentence, though parole is not guaranteed.

Boston’s family said they were disappointed with the sentence and had hoped the case would proceed to trial.
