There has been a lot of attention surrounding Texas Tech quarterbacks this offseason and understandably so, but the running back room might end up being the main story for the Red Raiders on offense this year.
Texas Tech returns the dynamic duo of Cameron Dickey and J’Koby Williams. Dickey, a 5-foot-10, 215-pound junior, rushed for 1,154 yards, 5.4 yards per carry and 14 touchdowns, plus caught 25 passes for 224 yards and two scores last season on the way to be named first-team All-Big 12 by the Associated Press.
Williams, a 5-10, 180-pound junior, led Texas Tech in all-purpose yards (1,525) last season and is the definition of versatility. Williams rushed for 868 yards, 5.6 yards per carry and six touchdowns, plus caught 35 passes for 388 yards and two scores. He also returned six kickoffs for 243 yards, including a 99-yard touchdown.
What makes the pair special is while they are tabbed as a classic thunder and lightning duo with Dickey being the power back and Williams being the elusive runner in space, both excel beyond their labels.
