In 2023, Lubbock was told we were getting some “Texas Sized Entertainment” at Covenant Park: a huge complex that would include movie theaters, a brewery, indoor pickleball courts, an arcade, and more. The project was supposed to be complete in 2025, but we are halfway through 2026.
What Happened To Lubbock Getting a Schulman’s Movie Bowl Grille?
I hadn’t heard a thing about this project in quite a while, so I went to a great source for business news: Lubbock In The Loop. And they had moved Schulman’s from “Coming Soon” to “Rumor Mill.” Oof. That is not a good sign.
In August of 2025, Everything Lubbock reported that the project was still planned to go forward, but there is a very interesting piece of information there, that the entertainment complex, “is such a large project they want to get one location open before they start another.” However, the project that needed to be complete before ours got started doesn’t seem to be moving forward very quickly either.

According to KBTX, the entertainment complex, which is years behind on completion, is facing some issues. The project completion date has been pushed back two years, and the construction area has created an eyesore. It seems the project may be held up by legal issues and unmet financial deadlines:
