Flock cameras, also known as automated license plate readers, have been a source of much online discourse and controversy, even across typical political divides. Many people see them as an invasion of privacy, a breach of constitutional rights, and a potential source of abuse. Others see them as an invaluable investigative tool. Love them or hate them, there are plenty in Lubbock and the surrounding area, and an online map will show you exactly where they are.
How Many Flock Cameras Does Lubbock Have? Where Are Flock Cameras Located?
According to a recent article from KCBD, there are 27 Flock cameras that monitor Lubbock streets (as of June this year). However, an interactive map shows plenty more in the surrounding area (not every Flock camera is just for traffic; they end up on buildings, too).
There are also several in Wolfforth and even one in Idalou. You can check out the interactive map here. These are crowdsourced spottings of Flock cameras, so they may be slightly off/ the information could be updated.
Some Major Intersections That Have Flock Cameras
According to the map, some major intersections with Flock cameras include:
- Ave Q and 34th and 50th
- University and Clovis Hwy, the North Loop, 19th, and 50th
- Indiana and 4th and 50th
- Quaker and both North and South Loop, 34th and 114th Slide a
- nd 50th and 82nd
- West Loop and 19th
- Marsha Sharp and 82nd.
