LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said that 29-year-old Simon Garcia, the driver in an August 14 pursuit that ended in a crash, has been arrested.
According to the sheriff’s office, one of its patrol deputies attempted to stop a vehicle being driven by Garcia at University Avenue and 9th Street at around 10:53 p.m. The deputy reported that Garcia did not stop and instead headed north on University and later west on the Marsha Sharp Freeway at high speeds.

Garcia later exited the freeway at the exit on Quaker Avenue and crashed after not being able to control his speed while turning north. After being checked at a local hospital for any injuries related to the crash, Garcia was arrested and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center.
His charges included Evading Arrest with a Vehicle with a Previous Conviction, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Tampering with Evidence, Reckless Driving and Resisting Arrest. Garcia remains at LCDC with a bond totaling $34,000…
