Lubbock couple sees new home for first time after house fire destroyed everything

LUBBOCK, Texas — When Tim and Jerry Ann Bowman walked into their new home on Friday, January 26, they couldn’t believe their eyes. The home’s polished walls and fluffy furniture contrasted greatly from the last time they saw it, when it was crumbled and filled with smoke.

The couple, who lived in their house for about 20 years, lost it to a fire that consumed their home in June. The fire took everything from them, including their daughter, Rhonda, who died later in the hospital.

“When I found out that my daughter died, that’s when it all set in. It just collapsed on me,” Tim said.

Tim and Jerry Ann thought all hope was lost until homebuilder, Dan Wilson, decided he would get a crew together to rebuild the home from the ground up.

“Things started looking up when Dan got involved in it,” Tim said.

Wilson couldn’t shake the feeling that he had to help the couple after walking through the remains of their previous home a few days after the fire. After a few nights of lost sleep, he decided he would do whatever he could to get the Bowman’s house back.
