Tonight: Partly cloudy. Stray shower or storm. Low of 56°. Winds: SSE 10-15 MPH.Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers and storms. High of 74°. Winds: SE 10-15 MPH.
TONIGHT:
Isolated showers and/or storms will hang around the region tonight into the early morning hours of our Friday. Coverage will only remain around 10%. No severe weather is likely. We will maintain a partly to mostly cloudy sky across eastern New Mexico and western Texas, with winds out of the south-southeast sustained at 10-15 MPH. Lows will settle into the upper 40s to upper 50s by sunrise on Friday.

FRIDAY:
Temperatures will trend much warmer across the KLBK forecast area on Friday! Highs will peak in the upper 70s to low 90s under a partly to mostly cloudy sky. Winds will remain out of the southeast sustained at 10-15 MPH. During the afternoon and evening hours, showers and thunderstorms are expected to return to the region. Strong to severe storms will be possible along and north of U.S. Highway 84 from 3 PM CDT through midnight. Damaging wind gusts upwards of 70 MPH and large hail upwards of golf ball sized (1.75″ in diameter) will be the primary concerns. Showers will become more isolated and linger overnight into the early morning hours of Saturday. Lows will fall back into the upper 40s to upper 50s.

SHORT-TERM FORECAST:
Isolated to scattered showers and storms will remain in the forecast through the Memorial Day weekend! While not everyone will see rainfall. some locations will see locally heavy downpours, gusty winds, frequent lightning and hail! Be sure to head indoors if you hear thunder roar! It’s safe to go back outside after 30 minutes has passed since the last lightning strike/rumble of thunder. Daytime highs will remain in the upper 70s to upper 80s, with morning lows holding strong in the upper 40s to upper 50s! Winds will steadily blow from the southeast around 10-15 MPH.

EXTENDED FORECAST:
Our active storm pattern will remain through the extended forecast period. Scattered showers and storms will continue to pose a risk of large hail and damaging wind gusts next week. High temperatures will remain in the upper 70s to upper 80s, with morning lows in the low 50s to low 60s. The good news out of all of this is that rainfall will be returning to the region, and becoming more widespread! The bad news; severe weather will be a possibility.
