MFD responded to east side aluminum facilities 76 times in 10 years, records show

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Fire crews are working to determine what caused a fire at Madison-Kipp Corporation on Fair Oaks Tuesday, as records show a pattern of emergency responses to the aluminum company’s facilities.

The Madison Fire Department has responded to the Fair Oaks site 30 times in the last decade, with more than 40 calls to the company’s Atwood Avenue location.

As thick black smoke and flames erupted from the Madison-Kipp Corporation facility this week, John Murphy stood outside his apartment watching the fire unfold.
