Pride flags proudly on display on rural Dane County property

CROSS PLAINS, Wis. (WMTV) – If you’ve ever driven down Highway 14 just outside Cross Plains, you’ve probably come across Penni Klein’s flag display. In a large, grassy field she has eight large pride flags flying proudly on her property.

“I have a lot of people who I meet over at the park and places and they say, ‘oh you’re the one with the Pride flags’ and they say, ‘that’s so nice, that’s so cool,” Klein said.

The 64-year-old retiree lives on about seven acres in the Town of Cross Plains. She came out as a lesbian when she was 18 years old. She celebrates Pride year-round, but especially in June, which is Pride Month.

“In the old days, it was rough. There was lot of physical violence, so for me it wasn’t always easy, but we fought,” said Klein…
