Fake checks totaling $160,000 tied to father-son duo in Dane County, police say

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – More than $160,000 in fake checks were used at businesses in Dane County, after police said a father and son were caught using them to buy luxury cars at a Madison dealership.

The department posted a photo of what one of the checks looked like.

Police encouraged any business that received a similar check to call the MPD non-emergency line at 608-255-2345.

Employees of Trust N Ride Auto Sales & Repair, located in the 3700 block of East Washington Avenue, reported the situation to police on July 30 after the suspects tried to buy their third BMW in three days using checks.
