Report: Wisconsin saw a 11% decrease in the amount of remote workers from 2021 to 2022

More Wisconsin workers are moving back to the office, according to a study from LLC.org.

During the coronavirus pandemic, remote work became normal life for many workers who weren’t able to go to their place of business. Companies advised workers to stay home and many did. But now four years after the start of the pandemic, work life has started to return to normal.

LLC.org found a decline of 7,600, or 19%, in people who were working from home n Milwaukee and a drop of 8,800 workers, or 22%, in Madison. The study cited 2022 data, compared with the year before.

There are still roughly 32,600 people working from home in Milwaukee and 31,300 working from home in Madison.

LLC.org is a for-profit website that helps people form limited liability companies and start a business.

Overall, the state saw a decrease of nearly 50,000 of employees working from home, which was a 11.3% drop, the study said.

LLC.org analyzed employment data from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey in all 50 states and the 100 most populated cities in the country. The company looked at workers age 16 and older who worked from home in 2021 and 2022, which is the most recent data.
