Man arrested after driving against traffic in downtown Madison

MADISON, Wis. — A 30-year-old man was arrested after police said he was driving against traffic while intoxicated in downtown Madison early Saturday morning.

Officers were on foot patrol when they observed the suspected vehicle at around 2:27 a.m. on Henry Street. Police tried to stop the driver but failed, causing the driver to accelerate and forcing the officers to jump out of the way.

The man continued driving against traffic on Johnson Street, with vehicles swerving to avoid him. He crashed at Bassett and Johnson streets and attempted to walk away but was apprehended by police…
