Dane County Department of Human Services encourages foster parenting amid high need

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The Dane County Department of Human Services is encouraging people to become a foster parent in honor of May being National Foster Care Month.

Officials from DCDHS said that Dane County’s foster parent program has roughly half of the number of parents it did before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“If you’ve ever thought about fostering, National Foster Care Month is a great time to take the first step,” said Dane County Foster Care Coordinator Erin Salzwedel. “We are deeply grateful to the foster families in our community who open their homes and provide care, patience, and encouragement each day.”…
