A man who posts on TikTok as @thecorbshow said in a video that people who live in Dallas, or who have lived there, should look up Han Gil Hotel Town. On-screen text in the clip read, “Han Gil Hotel Town. Crazy.” He said it was an “absolutely wild story about this hotel.”
He said he used to work as a traveling salesman selling professional beauty supplies near the Royal and Interstate 35 area. He said he drove past the building all the time and always got a “super eerie feeling” from it. He said the name on the front looked like Honegill Hotel, and that he later looked it up.
He said he “went down such a rabbit hole.” In that first video, he claimed the owner “used to charge drug dealers and human traffickers $80 a day so they could openly run their business.” He also said dealers could “openly sell drugs” and “openly traffic human beings into the hotel.” He urged viewers to look up Han Gil Hotel Town and said he did not know why it was not a Netflix documentary.
A 2021 report described the hotel’s raid, cases, and demolition
In a follow-up TikTok video titled “Han Gil Hotel Town Pt. 2,” the same man said he had not remembered that the owner and the owner’s wife were both involved in what he called a “drug tax.” He said federal agencies raided the hotel and that it shut down in 2019. He said 24 people have been convicted of various crimes tied to the property. Other hotels have faced scrutiny for illicit activity too, as aMinnesota hotel’s vending machine was allegedly stocked with Narcan needles and syringe disposal containers.
He said that in the last year before it closed, a 19-year-old girl was raped, killed, and dumped in a park in Oak Cliff, and that she was found a month later. He also said two former Coppell High School students overdosed there. He named the main dealer as Eric Dwayne Freeman, nicknamed “Stuff,” and said there is a recording of Freeman torturing a woman with a blowtorch. He named Rashad Hill as the hotel’s enforcer and said Hill was the person who raped and killed that 19-year-old girl…
