Acworth city officials are moving forward with an annual update to the Community Work Program and Capital Improvement Element of the Comprehensive Plan, a state-required process that allows the city to remain eligible to collect impact fees for recreation projects.
The update, covering 2026 through 2030, was presented during a public hearing before the board. Officials recommended submitting the plan to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and the Atlanta Regional Commission for review.
Darryl Simmons, the city’s Director of Planning, Zoning, and Economic Development, who presented the item to the board during Monday’s public hearing, said the Georgia Planning Act requires the city to prepare and submit a capital improvement element and short-term work program to maintain its Qualified Local Government status.
